Tana Martin Yoga

I'm often asked "What style of Yoga do you teach?" As a teacher of almost 30 years this is a tough question.  I have experienced and studied many different styles and traditions from Gentle and Yin Yoga to more active forms of Yoga practice.  What it all comes down to is what feels authentic for me.  I've been influenced by all of it!  My "style" can best be described as coming strait from my heart.  When I'm with my students I find that by teaching from my heart, the class unfolds in and organic way and everyone will find something they need.  Whether they realize it at the time or not.  The best way for me to define my teaching to keep the scope broad.  Using the term "Hatha", which is any style of Yoga that involves asana (posture) practice. I call it Hatha Flow because the key to practice in my opinion has always been the breath.  Hatha Flow uses the breath to create a link between the body and the mind. Typically a slower paced class it is appropriate for those new to yoga or continuing students that wish to further refine basic postures and concepts.  Variations for new students or those dealing with limitations are offered as well as guidance for the more experienced student.  This well rounded style balances and opens the body. I also enjoy sharing knowledge on other aspects of the practice beyond the physical work. In any given class you could experience things such as pranayama (breathing techniques), mudras (hand/body gestures) mantras, meditation, energy body awareness, philosophy of yoga, and sound healing. Come to practice, it's a life long journey and your heart knows the way!

Tana's Kitchen Kula was born in March 2020. A blessing that came out of the pandemic. Kula means Community in sanskrit. I felt like it was important to keep the community together even though no one was going anywhere.

When I moved from PA my long-time students wanted me to do video classes by skype. I thought it was important to immerse myself in my new home community to meet new students and build my in person classes.

But 2020 brought my whole community together via live streaming.

The Kula started in my kitchen and has moved into the studio. I've streamed while traveling too. Tana's Kitchen Kula is going strong and I want to thank everyone who continues to support me there, it means everything. The Live stream is a private FB group. If you're interested in joining please reach out, I'd love to have you. The group started as donation and remains donation based.
